What actually happens in a working session with us
The first meeting, minute by minute: what we ask, what we build afterward, and the 90-day plan you keep either way.
Most agencies treat the first call as a pitch. Ours is a working meeting. Thirty minutes, video, no deck, no prep required on your end. You leave with a document, not a proposal.
Why we run it this way
Outbound only works when the targeting and the offer are right before a single email goes out. Most of what kills a cold outbound program happens upstream of copywriting: wrong segment, wrong data source, wrong signal, wrong message tested first. A sales pitch doesn't fix any of that. A working session does, because it forces both sides to get specific about the business before anyone talks about hiring an agency.
So we treat the first meeting as the first piece of real work. You get value from it whether or not you ever sign anything.
What we ask about
We're not filling out a discovery form. We're trying to understand your business well enough to build a targeting plan by the end of the call. That means questions like:
- Market. Who buys this, what's the buying trigger, and how big is the addressable universe.
- ICP. Which accounts have actually closed and which ones dragged. We care more about your closed-won pattern than your aspirational persona.
- Offer. What you sell, what it costs, and what the sales cycle looks like from first call to signed contract.
- How you sell today. Inbound, referral, outbound, some mix. Who's doing the closing and how much capacity they have for new conversations.
- What you've tried. Past outbound, past agencies, past tools. What worked, what didn't, and why you think it didn't. This is usually the most useful ten minutes of the call, because the failure pattern tells us more than the success pattern does. None of this requires prep on your side. If you don't know your close rate by segment off the top of your head, that's fine, we'll work with what you do know. What we look at afterward After the call, we take what you told us and go build against it. That means pulling your closed-won accounts and any CRM or list data you're willing to share, checking what the real addressable market looks like for the segments you named, and identifying which buying signals are actually observable for your category versus which ones sound good
but can't be tracked reliably. We also look at what you've already sent, when you have samples, to see where the message and the targeting parted ways.
We don't do this work live on the call. It takes us a few days because it has to be specific to your market, not a template with your logo on it.
What you get A custom 90-day outbound growth plan. It covers:
- Segments. Two or three specific account groups worth targeting first, ranked by how fast they should convert, not by how big the list is.
- Data sources. What list-building approach fits each segment. We won't hand you our sourcing methodology, but we'll tell you what kind of data you need and why the obvious sources probably won't get you there.
- Signals worth watching. The handful of buying-intent signals that are real and trackable for your category, and a warning against the ones that look good in a sales deck but don't hold up in practice.
- Messaging to test. Two or three angles worth running in the first month, and what we'd expect each one to tell you. You keep this plan regardless of what happens next. If you want to run it yourself, run it with another agency, or hand it to an internal hire, that's yours to do. "The plan is the pitch. If it's specific enough to be useful without us, that's the point, not a risk we're managing around." Who this isn't for We'll say this plainly on the call, not after we've taken your money. No proven offer. If you haven't closed real customers yet and you're still figuring out what people will pay for, outbound will just get you fast, expensive no's. Fix the offer first. Deal sizes too small. Cold outbound has real cost per qualified conversation. If your average deal doesn't clear a certain size, the math doesn't work no matter how good the targeting is. Nobody to close. We book the calls. If there's no one on your side with the time or authority to run them and close, the calls turn into wasted meetings and that's on the system, not on the leads.
If any of that describes where you are, we'll tell you directly and point you toward what to fix first. There's no version of this where we take on a client who's structurally set up to fail, because that costs us more than it costs you.
